Description
The P.E.I. Food Technology Centre (FTC) is seeking a Project Manager to provide leadership, technical
direction and coordination for a team of Scientists (Natural Products Biochemist, Chemical Engineer,
Purification Chemist) and supporting technologists as well as taking responsibility for managing an
ACOA-sponsored Atlantic Innovation Fund project. The NPE Project Manager is responsible for
acquiring, structuring, and managing delivery of natural products extraction projects locally, nationally
and internationally.
The incumbent must have high energy, enthusiasm, leading edge technical awareness, excellent
communications skills, project and time management skills, and offer a track record of pursuing
industrial opportunities and securing contracts.
FTC operates in a modern technical facility with ISO 9001 certification. FTC’s laboratories are
accredited by Standards Council of Canada, and its pilot plant is registered by the Canadian Food

Qualifications
• Ph.D. in biochemistry or a related discipline or M.Sc. in biochemistry with extensive relevant
experience.
• 5 to 7 years experience in managing senior technical staff with a proven track record.
• Capable of managing financial, budgeting and reporting components of an ACOA-sponsored
Atlantic Innovation Fund project
• Capable of providing technical guidance to project leaders (Ph.D./M.Sc. level) and supporting
technologists.
• Strong background in analytical chemistry, process engineering, and natural products extraction
• Proven ability to innovate and manage development of scientific projects
• Capable of working with industry clients and partners to procure advanced natural products
extraction projects.
• Extensive industry experience in a cost-recovery environment
• Extensive knowledge in regulatory matters
• Strong project management skills
• Effective team building and organizational skills
• Excellent problem solving skills
• Effective written and verbal English skills
• Advanced computer literacy
• Must be eligible to work in Canada
Salary - $54,116 to $67,645
Position Status - Term contract ending September 2008
