Description


This person will design and develop SQL Server database solutions to support a web-based application. This person will plan, document, and implement the database in the development, test and production environments.

The person will also be part of a .NET project development team, building that application and will ensure that the application is scalable and performs within reasonable timeframes.

In addition to leading the design of the structure and the maintenance of consistent data within it, they will create and manage DTS packages, triggers, and stored procedures, views, SQL transactions.

Qualifications


Required Skills: understand SQL table design and database normalization and de-normalization, and plan and execute database modifications. Expertise with stored procedures, triggers, T-SQL scripts, and performance issues with web-based database design is a must. In addition, the person will be responsible for:

• writing database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary ('metadata');
• controlling access permissions and privileges;
• training users, if required, and meeting users' access requirements and resolving their problems;
• ensuring that storage, archiving, backup and recovery procedures are functioning correctly;
• capacity planning;
• working closely with IT project managers, database programmers and web developers; and,
• communicating regularly with technical, applications, and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security.

Candidates with the following skills and abilities are desired: SQL Server 2000 or 2005, and .NET C#.
